Memories Of Times Past

6:30am Monday, scent of fried rice filled our house, my mom yelling

“Bandit! Sweetheart you need to wake up now!”,

that is how my day usually starts. She tends to take care of me anytime, nonstop; my uniform is already ironed, shoes were cleaned, lunchbox filled with foods – all I need is to wake up.

7:30am, mom is already suited up to accompany me to school, a little pat of cologne on my neck and we are off to go. Mom and I usually walk, my school is not that far, 5 minutes on a vehicle, 20 on foot, we always choose the long way.

“Sweetheart, study hard okay? It’s fine to enjoy playing and fooling around but don’t overdo it.”

“Okay mom” as what I always say.

7:50am, we arrived 10 minutes earlier, class starts at 8, mom kisses me goodbye on my forehead,

“Take care sweetheart, I love you”

“I love you too mom”

How I wish I said it before she left. I toke for granted everything she had done. Mom was caught in an accident on her way home, a simple “I love you too” would make a big difference.

“I love you mom, I really do, please come back”

Alarm beeping, the clock’s led lights shine at the corner of my room, 5:00am. Im actually awake before the alarm, staring at our dark ceiling, mind bloated, I just cant take my nightmares again. Its been 8 years since my mom died, why can’t I moved on that easily?
